Watch Live! Obama Speaks At National Prayer Breakfast 8:00 AM ET

UPDATE: The live event is over, but you can hear the full audio of the National Prayer Breakfast here. (Apologies, but the White House has set the video below to autoplay…)

President Obama, as every president does every year, will speak at this year’s National Prayer Breakfast this morning. USA Today reports “he’s expected, again, to detail who he is as a Christian, “what he prays for every day” and the ways he relies on the Bible, says a White House official, speaking on background.”

“It will be a deeply personal address from his heart,” the official said.”

The National Prayer Breakfast has increasingly come under attack, this year especially, as more and more Americans learn the host, “The Family,” which is, according to GetEQUAL, (who is holding a “Breakfast Without Bigots” protest concurrent with this morning’s event,) “a secretive religious group with ties to many political and business leaders in the U.S. and around the world. “The Family” is behind the legislation passing through the Ugandan Parliament right now known as the “Kill the Gays” bill — which would allow the Ugandan government to imprison or kill LGBT Ugandans…or those who know an LGBT Ugandan who doesn’t report them.”
