Watch: Georgia Teacher Likens Gays To Necrophiliacs In House Testimony

A Georgia teacher testified this past week in a Georgia House subcommittee hearing and likened gays and lesbians to necrophiliacs, pedophiles, and people who have sex with animals. The teacher, whose name has now spread across the nation, is Tanya Ditty. Tanya Ditty also just happens to be the state Chair for an anti-gay organization called Concerned Women for America, which is concerned about a great many things, all related to homosexuality. In fact, their obsession with homosexuality is curiously strange and obsessive.

The bill Ditty testified to prevent was designed to ensure LGBT people are not discriminated against in hiring for state employee positions, which of course include teaching positions.

Here’s an exempt of her testimony:

“There are 23 sexual orientations that fit under this definition and if this bill became law, then what we would be protecting for public employees is not only heterosexuality, bisexuality, pedophilia, transsexuality, transvestitism, I’m not going to read them all. Voyeurism, exhibitionism, feetism, zoophilia, necrophilia, klismaphilia and the list goes on. I teach in the public school system and I wonder if this would impact the public school system. And we have parents who bring their kids to school every day and expect the school to protect them. And what’s going to protect our children if someone that is a pedophiliac comes in and gets a teaching job, is a bus driver, is a custodian, and they can be people that just want to prey on people and they will be protected with this law.”

Ditty was the only one to testify against the bill, yet it died in committee by a 3-2 vote.

Earlier this week, New Civil Rights Movement writer Scott Rose reported:

Ditty told the House of Representatives that the measure would open the floodgates for the hiring of necrophiliacs. Even more egregiously, Ditty in her testimony used CWfA’s long-discredited tactic of attempting to smear all gay people by insinuating that they are pedophiles. Additionally, (very obviously) nothing in the text of the proposed legislation requires schools to hire convicted pedophiles.

The Georgia Voice, who originally reported on Ditty’s testimony, later added:

An interview request with Ditty was “respectfully declined” earlier today, but she was kind enough to send me a link to the “study” she presented yesterday as part of her testimony. So, I read it. As you can imagine, it’s complete and arrant bullshit.

My favorite subsection reads:

Few businessmen realize that when they allow the addition of “sexual orientation” to their nondiscrimination codes, they are tying their own hands when it comes to objecting to:

  • A man in a highly visible sales job coming to work in a dress and high heels;
  • A woman in a highly visible position coming to work in men’s clothes;
  • A person of indeterminate sex who insists on using either the men’s room or the women’s room;
  • A person of either sex who indulges a taste for extreme sexual promiscuity and pornography during working hours despite being charged with representing the company’s tone and character;
  • A man who frequents prostitutes while on business trips and claims that it is none of the company’s business, regardless of the company’s public image.

I wonder how giving employment protections to state LGBT workers would legally protect someone to watch a porno in an elementary school classroom or molest a goat on a school bus?

Ditty actually believes that not being able to fire someone simply because they’re gay, lesbian or transgender would also mean that our public school teachers can bone kids and bus drivers can have sex with goats during the afternoon route. I really wish I was making this up.

The study hits on several topics ranging from how homosexuality is a threat to freedom to the woes placed on society when marriages break down.

The good news: Tanya Ditty has now become the laughing stock of America, representing ignorance, bigotry, and hatred. No doubt her job is in jeopardy — it should be, based on her ignorant views and easily refuted comments.

You really can’t be a teacher and spread false information, and expect to keep your job, now, can you?
