Watch: Barney Frank Slams Log Cabin Republicans For Endorsing Romney

Barney Frank and the folks at Mitt Gets Worse teamed up to respond to the Log Cabin Republicans‘ endorsement today of Mitt Romney for president. Congressman Frank, who has been an outspoken critic of Mitt Romney and gay Republican groups, didn’t hold back today, nor did he last month when he released a lengthy, scathing statement defending his comments calling gay GOP groups, especially the Log Cabin Republicans, “Uncle Tom.”

Saying he is “particularly appalled,” today, Rep. Frank says, “it makes no sense to argue, as some in the Log Cabin do, that we will be advancing LGBT rights by supporting Romney.”

Congressman Frank also says the Log Cabin Republicans’ claim that Paul Ryan is willing to engage with us is “the kind of submissiveness that was necessary maybe 30 years ago,” and asks, “how can you vote against a hate crimes bill?”

“Today’s endorsement shows that Log Cabin Republicans are a right-wing conservative organization that happens to have gay staff, rather than an organization dedicated to LGBT equality that supports conservative principles,” Mitt Gets Worse says:

“When one reviews the horribly anti-equality record of Gov. Romney, it pales in comparison to the record of President George W. Bush, whom the Log Cabin Republicans wisely declined to endorse for re-election. Clearly the Log Cabin Republicans were put back in their place by the Republican establishment after that episode, or they never would have seen fit to endorse a candidate who opposes nearly every single item on the agenda for full LGBT equality over a President who is arguably the most pro-equality President in our history. Mitt Gets Worse will not hesitate to point this out over the last two weeks of the campaign.”
