Virginia Foxx Lies, Calls Gifford’s Shooter “Liberal Of Liberals”
Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC)Â once again has sunk about as low as an elected official can sink. Talking Points Memo reports that just moments ago, Rep. Foxx called Arizona shooting suspect Jared Loughner a “communist” and “the liberal of liberals.”
“This guy appears to be a communist,” Foxx told the Winston-Salem Journal. “His beliefs are the liberal of the liberals [sic]. There is no evidence whatsoever that this man was influenced by Sarah Palin or anybody in the Republican Party. This man is not a conservative; he’s a fan of communism – that’s the opposite of conservatism.”
Note: Jared Lee Loughner is a registered Independent, and there is absolutely NO evidence he is a “liberal.” If anything, his wacky rants about currency and the gold standard make him more of a Glenn Beck conservative than a liberal.
(Keep in mind that Foxx somehow is now the Chair of the House Subcommittee on Higher Education. I’ll allow you to make up your own metaphors.)
She added, “I don’t think members of Congress incite that kind of rhetoric,” Foxx added. “I don’t think the things we say incite that kind of behavior. And I don’t know that the things other people say incite it. I just think we have deranged individuals in this country and occasionally they do bad things.”
Obviously, Foxx has never heard her own speeches on the House floor.
Regular readers of The New Civil Rights Movement remember Rep. Virginia Foxx as the woman who lied about Matthew Shepard’s hate crime murder during the debate on the House floor, with Matthew’s Shepard’s mother, Judy, just steps away in the gallery.
The date was April 29, 2009, and Rep. Foxx said, “The hate crimes bill that’s called the Matthew Shepard Bill is named after a very unfortunate incident that happened where a young man was killed, but we know that that young man was killed in the commitment of a robbery.  It wasn’t because he was gay.  This – the bill was named for him, hate crimes bill was named for him, but it’s really a hoax that that continues to be used as an excuse for passing these bills.â€
She ultimately was forced to issue not one but two non-apologies.
Today, just three days after six people died and over a dozen more, including her own colleague, Rep. Gabby Giffords, were shot during an attempted assination of the Congresswoman from Tucson, Arizona, and just hours after her boss, Speak of the House John Boehner said, “A new Congress provides us a renewed opportunity to find common ground and address the priorities of the American people.”
So much for finding common ground, by equating half of America with a lone gunman who murdered six innocent people including a nine-year old girl, two seventy-year old women, a federal judge, and gravely wounded over a dozen other people.
Virginia Foxx is a divisive and unscrupulous liar.
And she proved it once again.
