UPDATE: New Hampshire Legislature Support Governor’s Changes

UPDATE: New Hampshire Legislature Support Governor’s Changes. Governor Could Sign Bill Next Week. The New Hampshire Legislature, officially known as the General Court, has said it will support the changes Governor John Lynch requested be made to the state’s gay marriage bill. The final vote on the bill, which has now passed both Houses, was eight days ago. The Governor announced today he will sign the bill only if stronger protections for religious institutions were inserted into the bill. The Governor included the specific language in the statement he released today.

Essentially, the changes ensure those who object to performing services, such as marrying same-sex couples, could not be sued based upon their “moral beliefs” or religious objections. The AP reports gay groups do not object to these provisions.
