var addthis_config = {“data_track_addressbar”:true};Uganda‘s “Kill The Gays” bill is the next order of business on Parliament’s agenda, according to the body’s “order list.” Ugandan Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has promised the bill will pass as an early “Christmas gift” for Uganda’s Christians.
Kadaga is rumored to be eyeing a run for the presidency, and others have claimed the bill has been brought back to move the international community’s eye away from the corruption in the Ugandan government, which has already forced Germany and the UK to rescind foreign aid.
The bill still contains the death penalty, despite mistaken reports from world media outlets including the BBC and the AP.
“So, what does the timeline for the Anti-Homosexuality Bill look like?,” Ugandan expert Jim Burroway writes today. “Today’s report from the Rules Committee will likely be boistrous and time consuming, and may take most of the day today. But once that’s done, movement on the two Petroleum Bill’s could go rather quickly — as early as tomorrow — assuming Museveni has sufficiently incentivised his MPs to complete the legalized swindle.”
Burroway adds “the Anti-Homosexuality Bill will be the first bill ‘on deck’ as ‘business to follow’.â€
