Uganda Expert: ‘Death Penalty Has Not Been Dropped’ From Kill The Gays Bill

var addthis_config = {“data_track_addressbar”:true};Jim Burroway‘s latest report, “When a Ugandan Politician Claims The Death Penalty Was Dropped But He Can’t Show You The Draft Recommendations Because They’re Secret, Then The Death Penalty Has Not Been Dropped” clearly explains that Uganda is playing games with the press. This is what Ugandan politicians have repeatedly done, and the international community should not be lulled into complacency.

Burroway is a well-respected U.S. based blogger who has been writing on LGBT issues since 2005 and is an expert and one of the best sources on Uganda’s “Kill The Gays” bill.

Burroway calls yesterday’s WBS News report from Uganda — which the press has been using as its basis for claiming the death penalty dropped — “troubling,” and observes it “sounds very suspiciously like several other previous reports, later proven to be false, that the death penalty had been removed.”

“And in case that red flag isn’t big enough, now we’re being told that the draft report from the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee is being held secret, and that we won’t know its contents until debate begins and the bill is voted on — which can take place in just a matter of a few hours,” Burroway notes.
