Tucker Carlson, co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Daily Caller today published an article titled, “Women: Sen. Bob Menendez paid us for sex in the Dominican Republic.” Senator Robert Menendez is the junior U.S. Senator from New Jersey, a Democrat, and served as the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman from 2009-2011. The Daily Caller is a radical right wing Internet broadsheet and has provided no actual proof, just accusations.
If Senator Menendez did hire prostitutes, and it was illegal to do so, we should now about it. But until there are actual facts, this is not journalism, it’s a partisan hack attack. (And I seem to remember one Senator David Vitter of Louisiana still has his job.)
“Two women from the Dominican Republic told The Daily Caller that Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez paid them for sex earlier this year,” “Investigative Reporter” Matthew Boyle writes today:
In interviews, the two women said they met Menendez around Easter at Casa de Campo, an expensive 7,000 acre resort in the Dominican Republic. They claimed Menendez agreed to pay them $500 for sex acts, but in the end they each received only $100.
The women spoke through a translator in the company of their attorney, Melanio Figueroa. Both asked that their identities remain obscured for fear of reprisals in the Dominican Republic.
When shown a photograph of Sen. Menendez, the women said they recognized him as the man with whom they’d had sexual relations at Casa de Campo this spring. Both said they were brought to the resort with the understanding they would be paid for sex.
Neither knew the identity of the man at the time. Both claimed to recognize him later as Sen. Menendez.
“He called him[self] ‘Bob,’†said one.
One woman said Menendez wooed her with compliments like “beautiful†before they slept together. The other woman recounted, with apparent bitterness, receiving from an intermediary only $100 of the $500 she had been promised.
“He lies,†she said of Menendez. “He says one thing and does another.â€
The Daily Caller adds but a one sentence paragraph as “balance.”
Asked about the allegations, Menendez spokeswoman Tricia Enright refused to answer any questions on the subject. “We’re not going to respond to a completely false accusation,†she wrote by email.
Aside from the accusations by the two female prostitutes, Tucker Carlson and his Daily Caller team have not presented a shred of proof, and decided to run this article five days before New Jersey residents decide Senator Menendez’s re-election.
That’s the same New Jersey that is traumatized and was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy just days ago.
Carlson, the conservative pundit-turned-blogmaster, Fox News Commentator, Cato Institute senior fellow, and former-bowtie-wearing half of the former “Crossfire” (think “Hardball” hosted by asshats) talk show team that CNN canceled after one interview with The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart — who eviscerated Carlson — in an iconic interview that catapulted Stewart’s show and credibility and literally was the very end of Carlson’s. (Video below.)
Speaking personally, Carlson’s own credibility and sense of journalistic integrity has always been questionable to me.
In 2010, Carlson on Fox & Friends  mocked the pending repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and mocked its implications on national security (repeal benefits security) calling it “totally a sideshow issue†and a “stupid issue.â€
In 2011, Carlson hosted a cocktail-party-slash-book-tour-kickoff in his home for convicted felon Jack Abramoff, possibly the most corrupt lobbyist ever. Carlson said, on camera, Jack Abramoff has a “decency†“I’m willing to vouch for.â€
Wht kind of journalism does Carlson promote?
Well, aside from today’s “news” story about Senator Menendez, earlier this year, after the ugliness of the National Review’s ultimate release of racist John Derbyshire, a writer for The Daily Caller lamented that his bike was stolen, and — although he had absolutely no proof whatsoever — the thief must have been a black person.
And in a dangerous and stupid publicity stunt, Carlson, to get more readers, announced The Daily Caller was giving away one gun every week until election day.
In June, Daily Caller “reporter” Neil Munro heckled President Obama during his announcement of his new DREAM immigration policy.
While the President was speaking, Munro shouted out, â€Why’d you favor foreigners over Americans?,†to which president Obama replied, “Excuse me, sir, but it’s not time for questions.â€
“Are you going to take questions?,†Munro continued. “Not while I’m speaking,†the President, somewhat angrily, replied.
Carlson announced he was “very proud†of his “reporter.”
And last month Carlson was at the center of the Drudge-Carlson-Hannity stunt that was laughed at by most of America, the 2007 video of President Obama speaking to a Black college audience, that everyone saw in 2007.
So, did Senator Menendez pay prostitutes for sex?
I don’t know. Neither do you. And neither does Tucker Carlson.

‘I Will Not Stand by Silently’: Sotomayor Blasts SCOTUS Conservatives Over Their Latest Attack on Abortion Rights
“The Court may look the other way, but I cannot.”
Justice Sonia Sotomayor expressed outrage at her conservative Supreme Court colleagues Thursday afternoon, after the six right wing jurists went one step further in attacking the constitutional guarantee of abortion.
Voting 6-3 against a women’s health care provider the Court denied a request by Texas Women’s Health, which provides abortion services, to change jurisdictions, which according to Justice Sotomayor the Court should have done.
“The lawsuit is now stalled with the Texas Supreme Court,” Rewire News reports.
Slate’s Mark Joseph Stern, a Supreme Court expert calls Sotomayor’s dissent “stunning.”
“This case is a disaster for the rule of law and a grave disservice to women in Texas, who have a right to control their own bodies,” Sotomayor writes. “I will not stand by silently as a State continues to nullify this constitutional guarantee. I dissent.”
She begins her dissent by explaining the case:
“It has been over four months since Texas Senate Bill 8 (S. B. 8) took effect. The law immediately devastated access to abortion care in Texas through a complicated private-bounty-hunter scheme that violates nearly 50 years of this Court’s precedents.”
“Today, for the fourth time, this Court declines to protect pregnant Texans from egregious violations of their constitutional rights. One month after directing that the petitioners’ suit could proceed in part, the Court countenances yet another violation of its own commands. Instead of stopping a Fifth Circuit panel from indulging Texas’ newest delay tactics, the Court allows the State yet again to extend the deprivation of the federal constitutional rights of its citizens through procedural manipulation. The Court may look the other way, but I cannot.”
In response the Guttmacher Institute, an organization focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights, accused the Supreme Court of “once again putting ideology over the rule of law.”

Ivanka Trump Responds to Committee’s Invite by Saying She Called for End to Violence – Leaves Out ‘Patriots’ Part
Ivanka Trump is responding to her invitation from the January 6 Committee by issuing a statement that is being seen suggesting she has no intention of accepting. Earlier Thursday the Committee sent the former First Daughter and White House senior advisor a lengthy 11-page letter asking for her voluntary cooperation.
A statement from her spokesperson given to CNN White House Correspondent Kate Bennett references a tweet posted by Ivanka Trump the day of the attack on the Capitol – a tweet she was forced to delete after massive outrage.
“As the Committee already knows, Ivanka did not speak at the January 6 rally,” the statement reads. “As she publicly stated at 3:15pm, ‘any security breach or disrespect to our law enforcement is unacceptable. The violence must stop immediately.”
NEW: @IvankaTrump's spokesperson tells me Ivanka "just learned" of the 1/6 Committee's invitation to appear before them, but from the response below, it sounds as though she isn't planning to do so: pic.twitter.com/VXpUXDnEuP

But in the actual Ivanka Trump called the insurrectionists “American Patriots,” as CNN reported that day:

Georgia Prosecutor Asks to Convene Special Grand Jury to Investigate Donald Trump’s Alleged Election Interference
A Georgia county district attorney has requested to convene a special grand jury to assist in her investigation of Donald Trump‘s alleged election interference.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in a letter to the county’s Superior Court chief judge writes that her office “has received information indicating a reasonable probability that the State of Georgia’s administration of elections in 2020, including the State’s election of the President of the United States, was subject to possible criminal disruptions,” according to the Associated Press.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (photo) was forced to release audio of then-President Trump appearing to intimidate him into fixing the election in his favor.
Trump, in the audio, can be heard berating and threatening the Republican Secretary of State, demanding he “recalculate” the losing election results and “find 11,780 votes” for him, which would have enabled Trump to falsely be declared the winner. Raffensberger refused.
“So look. All I want to do is this,” Trump told Raffensberger. “I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state.”
“There’s no way I lost Georgia,” he added, falsely. “There’s no way. We won by hundreds of thousands of votes.”
Willis told the AP the scope of her investigation “includes — but is not limited to — a Jan. 2, 2021, phone call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a November 2020 phone call between U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham and Raffensperger, the abrupt resignation of the U.S. attorney in Atlanta on Jan. 4, 2021, and comments made during December 2020 Georgia legislative committee hearings on the election.”
