Tony Perkins doesn’t let facts or accuracy get in his way when he wants to attack the LGBT community. Some might think that Perkins — who likes to boast he used to be a Baton Rouge police officer and reporter — would have more respect for facts than he displays in his unique habit of twisting them (or making them up) to meet his narrative, but given that the religious right has zero grounds to oppose same-sex marriage or LGBT people in general, what else can the head of a certified anti-gay hate group do if he wants to keep his $13 million funding rolling in?

On Sunday, during Seattle’s Pride festivities, a reportedly “straight, married, multiple felon,” who, according to news reports is named Jason Queree, was arrested after he apparently attacked a street preacher who was holding a large sign that read, “Repent or Else” and “Jesus Saves from Sin.” Queree reportedly has “been arrested 29 times since 1995,” and “convicted or otherwise found against for nine felonies, including forgery, stolen property, unlawful firearm possession and theft, and 12 misdemeanors, including driving with a suspended license, vehicle prowl, domestic violence, assault, DUI and criminal trespass.”
So of course, Tony Perkins sends out his daily hate-the-gays email that’s also published on the Family Research Council’s website. It reads:
The ugly side of “tolerance” was on full display last weekend in Seattle when a mob at the city’s “gay pride” event ganged up on two Christian street preachers and brutally attacked them.

The entire confrontation was caught on video and posted to YouTube by an attendee who said that he disagreed with the street preachers but believe they have “a constitutional right to be in public and preach.” As FRC knows all too well, this isn’t the first time homosexual activists have used violence to try to silence and intimidate Christians. Apart from the August 15 shooting in our lobby, marriage supporters across the country have been assaulted, threatened, and vandalized. The other side has even resorted to death threats for children! It’s time for Americans to wake up and realize the Left’s unwillingness to practice the very “tolerance” they preach — before more people get hurt. [Bolding ours]
For the record, the violence at Seattle Pride was unacceptable, and violence should never be considered acceptable. But let’s get our facts straight when pointing fingers — something Perkins is not expert at. As GLAAD reports, Perkins has said gay people are “intolerant. They are hateful. They are vile. They are spiteful,” and classified them as “pawns” of the “enemy.†Perkins has also claimed gays have an “emptiness within them” because they are “operating outside of nature.” He has compared gay legal advocates to terrorists. And Perkins’ FRC has “distributed a pamphlet that begins by likening the logic behind same-sex marriage to the logic behind man-horse marriage (complete with horse graphic).”
The violence at Seattle Pride was unacceptable, limited, Â resulted in no severe injuries, and was primarily perpetrated by not a “homosexual activist,” but apparently by a bystander who is a straight felon.
And it was, as you can see, the “homosexual activists” who actually stopped the violence.
