Tony Perkins: DADT Repeal So Overwhelming Military Has No Time To Facilitate Voting?
Tony Perkins is suggesting that members of the U.S. military are being disenfranchised because the military top brass “just haven’t been able to get these voting sites set up,” because they’re too busy implementing the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT).
Perkins does what all liars do — they ask a question so it seems like they’re not lying. (Unless your name is Mitt Romney then you just all out lie.) Perkins, it seems, attended the Jack Welch School of Communication, so he can try to say, “I just raised the question.”
“Could it be that the military was focusing its energies elsewhere, for instance, in the implementation of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and so most of the command’s focus and attention was on implementing the president’s social agenda as opposed to preserving those basic constitutional rights?,” Perkins “asks.”
The repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is well over a year old. As The New Civil Rights Movement reported, there have been all of two cases of soldiers leaving the military over it. By all accounts, it is a non-issue, and there was little to implement, other than training, which happened before the repeal was certified, so, almost two years ago.
Tony Perkins totally forgot that the reason the Family Research Council was labeled an anti-gay hate group under his watch is because he and his organization continue to spread lies. Not because of their stated anti-gay positions, but because they lie about gay people and issues surrounding us, like suggesting the military is disenfranchising soldiers because they’re too busy “implementing” something that was implemented two years ago.
Kyle Mantyla at Right Wing Watch, which published the video below, notes that “some are suggesting that requests for absentee ballots are down because the number of soldiers who are deployed is down.” Of course, LTG. Jerry Boykin then claims the military is so angry at President Obama, “they are going to vote overwhelmingly for Mitt Romney.”
Then, which one is it folks?
