Tighty-White Run To Loosen Up Utah, Support Gay Rights Draws 3000 (Photos, Video)

Utah’s annual “Undie Run” drew an estimated 3000 people this year, many of whom walked and ran through the streets of Salt Lake City to support gay rights, social change, sex education, and to protest Utah’s newly-changed and tighter alcohol laws. Supporters call the turnout record-breaking.

Utah struggles with a high suicide rate.

“Organizers say the Utah Undie Run was not just an effort to break a record, but also some stereotypes,” says a report by local Salt Lake City Fox News station Fox 13:

“My goal is to change Utah. To make this state lighten up once and for all,” said Nate Porter, organizer for the run. “I’m trying to draw people in that are jaded by politics.”

Dressed in only panties and boxers, thousands packed the Gallivan Center and made a dash towards Utah’s capitol. For some, the run came with a message.

“This is all about peace, love and supporting equal rights for LDS, non-LDS, gay, straight, doesn’t matter,” said Lisa Jackman.

The group’s Facebook page, which currently has over 2800 “likes,” adds,

Let us start out by saying that this event is for the most part all in fun, and to get Utah some good national publicity that could very likely change peoples perception of Utahn’s. We’ve all heard it for years, Utah is boring, Utahn’s are uptight…..well It’s time to change all that, at least for a night 🙂

Utah is uptight, we all know this……we don’t need to tell you how or why Utah is uptight, that is for you to say & decide. If you check the comments below you will see many voicing there opinions in many areas that Utah needs to simply lighten up on.

This is a Rally to get the states attention so they understand if just for a minute that they have responsibility to govern ALL of us, not just there own party/backers/group. that they have a duty to allow all Utahn’s to enjoy there homes as they see fit. and that by passing laws to make any certain group of people feel uncomfortable/unwelcome here is unacceptable.

The organizers add,

UNDIE RULES:
NO NUDITY, NO THONGS, NO G-Strings, NO SEE THROUGH UNDIES,
(all of the above can be worn with normal undies underneath them).
Booty shorts are ok.
Guys, please, nothing too skin tight.
You can’t have your whole butt cheeks showing, and ladies cover the girls up top & everyone will go home without a ticket.

Don’t arrive drunk/drugged/hammered/wasted, as running 2 miles isn’t fun when you’re drunk, and if your too out of hand you are simply asking for a public intoxication ticket.

We realize that a dress code at an Undie Run is silly, but we wan’t to make sure everyone has a good time and goes home without incident.
