This Is Not A Joke. Seriously, This Is Not A Joke.

I can across this video when searching for one of the President signing the Violence Against Women Act, for this post.

I assure you, this is not a joke. This is not The Onion. This is a real person who calls herself a Libertarian, and (don’t laugh) a “policy analyst,” although it appears the only policy analyzing she does is on her YouTube account.

Julie Borowski recorded this slick video, which would be amusing, if it weren’t so smack-full of wrong.

The video argues that the Violence Against Women Act is offensive because it positions women as victims. She touts that 40 percent of domestic violence victims are men. Let’s do the math here, OK?

She also argues that there are already laws against domestic violence, so we don’t need the VAWA.

This is the ignorance and stupidity of the libertarian mindset.

Great in theory. Disastrous in the real world.

She might as well argue we don’t need to fund the FBI because kidnapping is illegal.

For the record, the VAWA helps law enforcement defend victims of domestic abuse. It helps fund investigations. It helps protect women. And LGBT people. And native-Americans. And immigrants.

And it was signed today.

No joke.
