The Right: Building Marriage One Lie At A Time
For years we’ve all watched them: those TV crime shows, like Law & Order, and CSI. In so many episodes you hear the criminals conspiring to avoid prosecution. “Let’s get our story straight!” one of them invariably cries. And so they do. And that’s how the cops know they’re lying – because no two people’s stories are the same.Â
Talking points. Buzzwords. Rhetoric. That’s how we know the Right is lying again. Conspiring, just like those folks in the cop shows. It would appear that all of a sudden the Right got together and decided to attack gay marriage. But they’re doing it the “new” way, by putting their spin to answers on the questions some people have about gay marriage. And they’re building a lie, brick by brick, one story at a time.
The most current talking point the Right is using to lie about gay marriage is their answer to the question, (the one I answered yesterday) “How will gay marriage hurt straight marriage?” We’ve see it all over the Internet the past few weeks:
