Tell Paul Ryan, GOP Darling, Cancer, Not Progressivism, Is Cancer

My father had cancer. Twice. We were lucky. The first time. The first time they caught his colon cancer early. The second time, the doctors were too late. It spread throughout his body, despite all the chemo he underwent, several times a week.

We were lucky. The doctors gave him six months to live. I was there, sitting with him when the doctor looked at him and said, “Sandy, you have six months, at most.” Fortunately, he lived another few years after that.

I won’t give you the ugly details here of what he had to go through. The chemo, the vomiting, the colostomy bags. Chances are you have a friend or family member who has cancer, and is living with it or has passed on because of it.

The American Cancer Society says that at any given moment, there are over 11 million people in the United States living with cancer. Eleven million.

Someone needs to tell Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) than cancer is cancer, progressivism is not. In fact, I would ask you to challenge Rep. Ryan with this, since he likes to flout the word around.

What have Republicans done to eliminate the prevalence of cancer in America? What has he or his party done to attack the real cancer in America: cancer?

It’s so easy to play the “cancer” card. To call something it isn’t. Ask any doctor. What do patients fear most? Cancer.

Rep. Ryan, your words offend me and the memory of my father, and all the family members I and millions of Americans have lost to cancer.

It’s time you started working on the real problems, like cancer, facing America, and not the ones you are making up in your head to scare the good people of this country.

Via StopBeck:

On his radio show this morning, Glenn Beck boasted that Ryan’s office immediately reached out to him claiming ‘no no no, we’re with you!” Upon hearing this, I contacted Rep. Ryan’s press secretary, who said that Beck’s characterization was not an accurate representation of what they said. But, Paul Ryan certainly went on to demonstrate otherwise.

On Glenn Beck’s show, Rep. Ryan excoriated progressivism as a “cancer,” much like Beck has irresponsibly done in the past.

Please call Rep. Ryan: Tell him that you disapprove of his irresponsible assertions and support for Glenn Beck.  It’ll take 2 minutes or less of your time, but is important step in restoring accountability. Rep. Ryan’s number is (202) 225-3031.
