Steve King Never Heard Of A Raped Girl Getting Pregnant — Except For The One He Described

Congressman Steve King — aka Todd Akin‘s number one fan — made big headlines yesterday when he claimed he, himself, had never heard of a girl getting pregnant via rape, giving credence to embattled Congressman Todd Akin’s claim that “legitimate” rape victims usually don’t get pregnant. But what do you know: Just three weeks ago, the Iowa Congressman — rated the most conservative in the entire House — while defending his remarks and vote to protect dog fighting (sick) actually talked about thirteen year old girls getting abducted from playgrounds, raped, and forced to get abortions before being returned to the scene of the crime, their parents apparently none the wiser.

Huh?

First of all, this pretty much makes Congressman King not only despicable, but a liar.

Noting that King “might agree with parts of Akin’s assertion” that women can stop themselves from becoming pregnant in cases of “legitimate” rape (or, now, as Akin has “updated” his comments, “forcible” rape,) Talking Points Memo reports:

“Well I just haven’t heard of that being a circumstance that’s been brought to me in any personal way,” King told KMEG-TV Monday, “and I’d be open to discussion about that subject matter.”

And here’s the video and transcript excerpt of King defending himself from a Think Progress report, just three weeks ago:

“For example, if there’s a sexual predator out there who has impregnated a young girl, say a 13-year-old girl — and it happens in America more times than you and I like to think — that sexual predator can pick that girl up off the playground at the middle school and haul across the state line and force her to get an abortion to eradicate the evidence of his crime and bring her back and drop her off at the swing set and that’s not against the law in the United States of America.”

First of all, so that “I just haven’t heard of that being a circumstance that’s been brought to me in any personal way,” was just gobbledegook doublespeak.

Secondly: “That’s not against the law in the United States of America”?

What planet is Congressman King on?

Let’s see, just off the top of my non-lawyer head:

• Rape
• Transporting a minor across state lines
• Abduction
• Endangering a minor

I don’t know, I’m sure I missed a lot.

Steve King is a Todd Akin apologist.

Steve King is so ignorant of the laws in America, and so ignorant of what America is all about — he has no business being a U.S. Congressman.
