Seattle Mariners, Seahawks, Sounders, Storm Join Together In It Gets Better Video

All four Seattle teams, the Mariners, Seahawks, Sounders, and Storm got together and produced this It Gets Better video for LGBTQ youth.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer writes,

For a campaign that has its roots in Seattle, the city’s four sports team sure took their time getting on the bandwagon. Heck, the San Francisco Giants did an It Gets Better video more than two months ago.

But the Mariners, Seahawks, Sounders and Storm are now firmly on that bandwagon and deserve credit for sending a well done, unified statement. The teams have contributed a video to the It Gets Better Project, the anti-bullying campaign started by the Stranger’s Dan Savage in the wake of several suicides of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender teens.

“The messages in the video are core values of our organization, so it was easy for us to agree that the Storm would participate,” Storm President and CEO Karen Bryant said in a news release.

The video, which was posted on YouTube, itgetsbetter.com and each team’s website, includes Brandon League and Brendan Ryan of the Mariners, Mike Williams of the Seahawks, Mike Fucito and Roger Levesque of the Sounders, and Lauren Jackson and Swin Cash of the Storm.

“As far as we can tell, this is the first time a community’s professional sports teams have joined together to take a stand on this important issue,” Mariners President Chuck Armstrong said. “We are proud to be part of it.”
