Santorum: Gay Marriage ‘Discourages’ Straight Marriage (Video)

Rick Santorum this week told Fox News host Bill O’Reilly that gay marriage “discourages” straight marriage.

“Would we be discouraging heterosexual marriage by allowing gay marriage?” the Fox News host asked Santorum.

“Yeah, I believe we would,” Santorum responded, “because we’d be saying marriage isn’t about children.”

Santorum, who has for years has babbled on about how schools are indoctrination facilities for liberals, was asked by O’Reilly about having a speaking engagement to a Michigan high school canceled. O’Reilly didn’t mention that a prime reason was because Santorum refused to provide an advance copy of his speech to the school. he also didn’t mention that the school was promised that Santorum would not discuss same-sex marriage, while Santorum, in his bullying attack on school authorities, specified that he had every intention of speaking about same-sex marriage.

It was also then revealed that Santorum is being paid $18,000 to speak to the Michigan high schoolers, some, presumably, as young as 13 or 14.

Santorum first took issue with not being allowed to speak to t 1600 high school students, and railed against the “liberal educators” on his Patriot Voices’ website. Then, when school administrators changed their mind, but added one tiny caveat — parents would have to sign a permission slip — Santorum again displayed anger and frustration, telling Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly that it’s ridiculous” for them to require parental approval — “as if there’s something that person could do to harm your child!” — since he’s been a Senator and was almost the GOP presidential nominee.

Hypocrisy much?

Santorum could have and should have been the bigger person, but his narcissism and self-obsession wouldn’t allow it.

Santorum has advocated against same-sex marriage and claimed schools will teach that homosexuality is OK, but becomes agitated when a school demands a simple parental signature for him to bring his religious theocratic zealotry into the public schools?
