Same-Sex Marriage Now LEAST Important Issue To Voters

A few weeks ago in, “Religious Americans Ignorant On Religion,” I cited a survey, by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. Somewhat buried in that report was this gem, which we have the fine folks over at Right Wing Watch to thank for highlighting it.

Of the thirteen issues Pew asked registered voters, same-sex marriage was of the least importance for their vote. In other words, a candidate’s position on the Economy, Jobs, Health care, Terrorism, the Budget deficit, Taxes, the Financial system, Energy, Afghanistan, Immigration, the Environment, and Abortion were of more importance in deciding whom to vote for than same-sex marriage.

To be sure, this is good news. It means the GOP and the Tea Party can try all they want to use marriage equality as a wedge issue to drive voters to the polls over the next few weeks. It won’t work in their favor.
