Santorum will be paid $18,000 for a one to two hour speech to 1600 high school students that will include his anti-gay views, after he bullied school administrators.
Rick Santorum‘s speech to 1600 Michigan high school students was canceled after the failed GOP presidential candidate refused to provide school officials with a copy of his speech. But after the former Republican Senator bullied school administrators at Grosse Pointe South High School and raised a fuss by accusing them of being “liberal educators” “extending free speech rights only to those who share their liberal views,” and being “afraid” of his views, the school has now switch its position and is allowing Santorum to speak to their students, as long as parents sign permission slips.
But the brouhaha has revealed a new factor today in the Santorum-created drama.
“This compromise was reached between the school administration and the South student club Young Americans for Freedom (YAF), the event organizers,” ClickOnDetroit reports:
Monday, [the high school’s] Principal, Dr. Outlaw, sent an email to parents informing them the assembly was canceled. This school says they asked a national YAF representative, if Santorum had ever spoken to a high school before and if he would provide a copy of his speech to ensure the message was focused on leadership.
The school says the answer to both questions was “no”, prompting the cancelation.
But then there’s this tidbit:
The district says students participating in YAF raised $18,000 to bring Santorum to Michigan.
Yes, Rick Santorum is taking $18,000 from students to talk to them for an hour or two.
Disgusting.
How many car washes, bake sales, candy sales, magazine drives, and raffles did it take for them to scrounge together $18,000?
And Santorum, who is worth several million dollars — not including his home — is taking the students’ lunch money so he can fill their minds with anti-gay hate.
Santorum was going to be smuggled in to speak to the students.
YAF told school officials his speech would be on “leadership,” and specified he would not address same-sex marriage.
But in his public statement attacking the Grosse Pointe South High School administration, Santorum specifically stated he would be talking about same-sex marriage because “these students deserve the respect to form their own opinion on this important issue.”
And they have to pay Rick Santorum $18,000 to hear it?
Indoctrination?
