Rick Santorum Says He Will Die To Stop Gay Marriage (Video)

Rick Santorum says he will die in order to stop gay marriage from happening in America. In perhaps his most-revealing interview yet, Santorum, who is polling between1% and 5%, says that the future of the family is at stake, and he is literally willing to give his life to ensure traditional marriage is the only marriage possible.

Igor Volsky at Think Progress writes, “Rick Santorum recently told CaffeinatedThoughts.com editor Shane Vander Hart that he would ‘die on the hill‘ fighting against same-sex marriage. ‘The battle we’re engaged in right now on same-sex marriage, ultimately that is the very foundation of our country, the family, what the family structure is going to look like. I’ll die on that hill,’ he says.”

(By the way, from their website: “Caffeinated Thoughts is a blog that covers culture, current events and politics from an evangelical Christian point of view,” and “Shane has been involved in youth ministry since 1992 in church, para-church, and Christian school settings, and currently works with juvenile offenders in the Des Moines Metro area. He has also been an interim pastor for a local Evangelical Free Church and provides pulpit supply for area churches.”)

Santorum also suggests that religious freedom is threatened, although by what he does not say, though one can assume gay marriage is the cause, in his head. “The basic foundation of our freedom of faith and religion, be able to preach the gospel, to preach the truth about what is ordered and disordered, what is sin and not, what is truth and what is not, those are important things for our country.”

Clearly, Santorum is struggling with many deep demons.

Just days ago, Santorum claimed that his fight against same-sex marriage equality was akin to Lincoln’s fight against slavery, and classified as “bullying” a Saturday Night Live skit that showed him in a gay bar as part of a GOP debate. For the record, bullying leads to youth and teen suicide, not free publicity on NBC.
