Rick Santorum: Movie Theater Screens Are The ‘Playground’ Of ‘The Devil’

Rick Santorum has never had to worry about the relationship between politics and religion, because religion has always been the failed former U.S. Senator and Republican presidential candidate’s master. So no one was surprised when Santorum in June announced he was becoming the CEO of a Christian movie studio.

In his first few months at EchoLight, Santorum went in swinging, firing two men, one of whom was the film company’s founder, and then suing them a week later, claiming they were disparaging the company.

Santorum recently introduced EchoLight’s new film, “The Christmas Candle,” while appearing on Trinity Broadcasting Network, which was founded by none other than televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker.

And that’s where Santorum, feeling so comfortable and wrapped int he warmth of corporate moneyed religion, let his freak fly.

“This is a tough business,” Santorum said, his taut hand keeping beat with his words, “this is something that we’re stepping out.”

“The Devil for a long, long time has had this,” Santorum says firmly, fist now clenched, “these screens, for his playground and he isn’t going to give it up easily.”

Of course the 55-year old — just like his fellow Roman Catholic friend, Associate Justice Antonin Scalia — thinks “the Devil” is a real person.

So how can we banish the Devil from his “playground,” America’s movie theaters?
