Rick Perry: I Only Brought Up Obama Birth Certificate Because It’s Fun To Poke At Him

In an interview with CNBC’s John Harwood this morning, Perry admitted that the flirtation was pure political pandering. “It’s a good issue to keep alive,” Perry said, according to a tweet posted by Harwood.

Later, Perry said, “I’m really not worried about the president’s birth certificate. It’s fun to poke at him a little bit, and say, how about, ‘Let’s see your grades and your birth certificate.’”

Perry, falling fast in the GOP presidential candidate polls, told Parade magazine in an interview he doesn’t know that the birth certificate President Obama released in April is real, after he had a meeting with birther conspiracist and former GOPpresidential candidate dangler Donald Trump.
