Report: Bradlee Dean’s Anti-Gay ‘Cultic Sham Ministry’ Is ‘No More’

Bradlee Dean, founder of the “Christian youth ministry” and anti-gay hate group, You Can Run But You Cannot Hide International, is reportedly having a bit of trouble. A source at the Minneapolis City Pages says Dean’s “ministry” — which spews lies about gay people, and has shown photos of aborted fetuses to young students — “is no more.”

“According to a source close to the situation, Dean’s ‘You Can Run But You Cannot Hide International’ staffers have all walked out on him,” Aaron Rupar at City Pages reports:

The source said that in the wake of our July report about disaffected former You Can Run staffer Jake Dagel — Dagel characterized You Can Run as a “cultic sham ministry” – a group of upwards of a dozen former staffers got together and compiled testimony about how Dean had mistreated and exploited them. They subsequently brought 28 pages worth of testimony to the Minnesota Attorney General’s office and are currently working on a mediation proposal with Dean’s camp. The group of former staffers seek reimbursement of funds they say Dean owes them and a guarantee that Bradlee will never hold another leadership position with a ministry. Our source isn’t sure whether Dean could possibly face criminal charges as a result of the allegations, some of which constitute crimes.

Dean has been close to Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, who has helped fundraise for him.

Perhaps it all started to unravel last year, when a small Iowa high school hired Dean and his crew, and paid them an estimated $1500. Dean and his team reportedly “instructed” the children for over three hours, spreading lies about homosexuality and abortion. One local paper reported Dean’s team “forced the young ladies to chant a manta of sorts about remaining pure.”

During that event, Dean’s leaders falsely claimed “the average age of death of a homosexual man is 42 years old,” and “his actions literally kill him.” They also called homosexuality “sexual deviancy.”

Or perhaps Dean’s downfall started the year before, when Dean earned the dubious distinction of being the only minister ever to be stopped from completing the opening prayer in the Minnesota House of Representatives. During the prayer, Dean “questioned President Barack Obama’s commitment to Jesus.”
