Vladimir Putin is doubling down on his war on gays. Yesterday the president of Russia said the rights of the majority must not be infringed, and claimed that his war on gays did not exist — then went on to defend it as necessary and his right a the leader of a sovereign nation.
“President Vladimir Putin has denied gay people face discrimination in Russia, saying that a new law that has drawn protests worldwide does not infringe on their rights,” the Telegraph reported. “Mr Putin insisted the law bans only ‘propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations among minors.’ He argues that it is ‘no infringement on the rights of sexual minorities.'”
Mr Putin says while some European nations have allowed gay marriages, “the Europeans are dying out … and gay marriages don’t produce children”.
He added that heterosexual couples should have more children to reverse a population decline, saying “let us make our own choice, as we see it for our country”.
“Do you want to survive by accepting immigrants?” Mr Putin said. “Society can’t absorb such a number of immigrants.”
Mr Putin made the comment at a conference of Russia experts in Valdai in north western Russia. He also made a joking reference to his friend, former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, who was convicted in June of paying for sex with a minor and pressuring public officials to cover it up.“Berlusconi has faced a trial for living with women. They (prosecutors) wouldn’t touch him if he were gay,” Mr Putin said.
President Putin may claim there is no anti-gay discrimination in Russia, but of course that’s a lie. There is anti-gay discrimination n every country around the world. The question is, is it state-sanctioned — like it is in Russia — or is it illegal, as it is in some other countries, and to what degree.
Putin’s very public war on gays, and his refusal to protect them from his national police force and from the thugs who bully, attack, beat, and rape them because they’re gay, will continue and get worse.
While Putin is lying about anti-gay discrimination, his citizens are following his lead, and publishing videos like this one that says gay people want to adopt children to rape them and use them for sex, gays are forced to turn children gay, half of gays are pedophiles, and gays commit 30 percent of all sexual assaults.
Government officials are firing journalists for being gay, and writing bills to steal children from LGBT parents and same-sex couples. As one Russian journalist said, Putin’s war on gays is “a call to violence.”
