Preacher To Teens: I Want 100,000 Gays For ‘Radical Salvations And Healing Of AIDS’

Lou Engle, a radical religious right preacher, told a large group of hundreds of teens at The Ramp that he wants to see 100,000 gays come to him for “radical salvations and healing of AIDS.” Engle, who has strong ties to groups like Invisible Children and the subversive C-Street religion-political shadow group The Family, called this “the issue of your day.”

“I want to see an accumulated prayer movement for a hundred thousand, Engle starts out. “First wave, Bob Jones, he had a vision in 1989, first wave of homosexuals come to Christ, a hundred thousand would be just the first wave and it would come suddenly. I dreamed of this before.”

Brian Tashman at Right Wing Watch put it this way:

Lou Engle is redoubling his efforts at building a prayer movement to stop the “homosexual tornado” before it destroys America, and told members of The Ramp, an anti-gay youth ministry, that he haddreams of 100,000 gays and lesbians becoming part of a “first wave” of ex-gay preachers who will bring about “radical salvations and healings of AIDS.”

Engle, who once was former Senator and now Governor Sam Brownback’s roommate, apparently thinks he can get waves of 100,000 gay and lesbian people to convert into heterosexuals and he can save them — apparently from both HIV/AIDS and the devil.

The Ramp is perhaps one of the most offensive and dangerous religious youth ministries (worse than Bradlee Dean‘s You Can Run But You Cannot Hide,) and back in August of last year The New Civil Rights Movement posted a video that showed The Ramp’s founder Karen Wheaton ask children and teens in the audience for $1000 (not a typo!), saying, “you can write a check,” to “sustain the Lord’s ministry.”

Wheaton on the video — which is no longer available on YouTube, said, “We’re not just going to offer the Lord that which costs us nothing,” then said, “it’s your duty to turn back around and give back.” Wheaton also claimed “offering is worship,” and, just like an armed robber, kept saying, “keep your hands up, keep your hands up.”
