“The Silent Chronicles”

Part V: Raven

2:13 a.m.
I see a raven land on my windowsill.
It’s talons clench the cold steel.

2:14 a.m.
A chill of sweat pummels my forehead.

2:15 a.m.
I sit up.

2:16 a.m.
The window is still open.
The raven is

2:17 a.m.
Gone.
Nothing is silent.

2:17 a.m.
A light shines through my window.
Strange, it’s the middle of the night.

2:18 a.m.
Noise like thunder pulses around me.
The room shakes.

2:19 a.m.
The wall of windows is forced to invade my room.
Was the raven my warning?

2:19 a.m.
Time had stopped.
Pain occupies my mind.

…

2:20 a.m.
I don’t remember.

2:22 a.m.
My mind: blank,
Except falling, I remember falling

2:23 a.m.
I try to shift my body.
I recognize nothing.

2:24 a.m.
I remember falling,
And a

2:25 a.m.
Raven.
Yes.

2:26 a.m.
A raven on my windowsill.
Where did it go?

2:27 a.m.
I see…something blurry.
Not so much a light as a lack of darkness.

2:28 a.m.
Shapes come into focus.

2:29 a.m.
Feeling returns.
The pillow against my body, the sweat on my forehead,

2:30 a.m.
Glass in my chest.
His hand finds me.

2:31 a.m.
Warmth returns.
I remember my bed, my comforter.

2:31 a.m.
I see blood, my
Blood.

2:32 a.m.
The smell of gasoline fills my nose.
The weight of metal crushes me.

2:33 a.m.
I hear him screaming.
I’m freezing cold.

2:33 a.m.
I can’t see any longer
Or feel.

2:34 a.m.
The world falls
Silent
