Tim Pawlenty just signed his name to the growing list of 2012 political candidates, including Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman who are refusing to sign the Family Leader’s anti-gay, anti-porn, anti-Islam, pro-slavery “Marriage Vow.” Tuesday, former Governor Romney announced he was refusing to sign the pledge, with his campaign calling it, “undignified and inappropriate for a presidential campaign.”

The day it was released, former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman announced he would not sign the pledge — or any other. Within the first twelve hours, both Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum rushed to sign the controversial vow — despite the fact that they hadn’t even read it — from the controversial Iowa conservative Family Leader group. At least Herman Cain admitted he hadn’t read it, and said he wouldn’t sign it until he had.
Last week, Gary Johnson, perhaps the second most LGBT-friendly candidate next to Fred Karger, railed against the pledge, saying it condemned everyone “who doesn’t fit in a Norman Rockwell painting.â€
Rep. Ron Paul, who Tuesday announced he would not seek reelection to the House of Representatives, although he is still running for President, has yet to announce his intentions, although he seems to be leaning away from signing the Vander Plaats Marriage Vow.
And twice-divorced, thrice-married Newt Gingrich has not said if he will or if he won’t, but in typical Gingrich fashion, said to Vander Plaats, “We’re happy to work with you to sharpen it so people understand where we’re going with it,” adding, “It’s not there yet.”
