Pastor Sean Harris must be having a really tough day.
After he created a firestorm by advocating parents “punch” the gay out of their effeminate four-year old boys and demand their possibly lesbian daughters to “act like a girl and walk like a girl and talk like a girl, and smell like a girl,” Pastor Harris — who offered an apology that insists homosexuality is “an abomination to God,” has been the focus on an angered nation.
The New Civil Rights Movement was one of the first to report on this disgusting story, after Jeremy Hooper at Good As You here, and here uncovered and posted the audio from Pastor Harris’ Sunday sermon.
Harris today, after our four stories detailing the “sermon,” public reaction to it, the Pastor’s follow-up “apologies,” and his interview today with veteran journalist Michelangelo Signorile, apparently decided to block me on Twitter.
So much for turn the other cheek.
So much for leading with love and understanding.
So much for first seeking to understand.
Frankly, I could care less, but I think it’s an excellent example of the type of hypocrisy and desire to let in no opinions other than those that affirm his version of the Bible that make Pastor harris so very special.
In my opinion, Pastor Harris, whose responsibilities also include being the head of a school of reportedly 400 children, should lose his tax-exempt status, his congregation should go elsewhere, and whatever license the state of North Carolina offers to allow him near children should be revoked.
You don’t get to gay-bash children. Ever. and certainly not as an adult. Kids are off limits. Our kids keep dying by suicide because of the hate people like Pastor Harris spread. Children who live in conservative environments conservative counties and towns, are far more likely to attempt and to complete suicide than kids who live in more liberal areas. That’s a fact.
