Paladino’s So-Called “Apology” Costs Him Support From NY Rabbi

Poor, poor, Carl Paladino. He’s had a “grinding” week. First, to position himself, as he said, as the “religious-values candidate,” he declared war against the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities. Twice, in fact, on Sunday alone, to two different Orthodox Jewish groups. Then, after hearing all the backlash, he gleefully booked himself on the three major networks’ Monday morning talk shows, and reiterated his positions, including using the word, “disgusting.”

On Tuesday, after he was avalanched by decent people — including his own gay nephew –and organizations across the country, he “apologized.”

Well, that so-called “apology,” (I call it a “lie,”) as insufficient as it was, was enough to lose Paladino the support of one of the Rabbis he spoke to on Sunday, the very man who actually wrote the speech Paladino read, that caused all this attention and push-back.

Steve Rothaus reports, “Rabbi Yehuda Levin, who represents an umbrella organization of ultra-Orthodox clerics, accused Paladino on Wednesday of bowing to political pressure when he apologized for a speech in which he said children shouldn’t be “brainwashed” into thinking homosexuality is acceptable.”

“Levin – speaking in New York City in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral – says he can’t support Paladino’s campaign ‘until such time as he straightens out.'”

Gosh. It barely pays to be a bigot, “a homophobic,” a hater these days, does, it, Carl? Perhaps you’d be better off trying to stick to the “issues,” as you said, like Andrew Cuomo’s “legendary prowess.”
