Yes, just five days until The Great Nationwide Kiss-In! kicks off. What an amazing ride it’s been. With events planned in 50 cities, including two in Canada, here’s proof that Americans are passionate, supportive, and believe in fighting for what’s important.
The Great Nationwide Kiss-In will take place in 31 states, two countries, 50 cities, and five different time zones. Four thousand people have already signed up. Couples cross every race and demographic, are gay, straight, bisexual, transgender. This is not a LGBTQ-only event. It is not an adults-only event. We have high school seniors organizing events, straight women, straight couples, gay couples, singles, everybody. And for good reason. This is a human issue, not an LGBTQ-only issue.
The response to The Great Nationwide Kiss-In! has been phenomenal. In just a little over three weeks, you have all come to say that enough is enough. There are lines that cannot be crossed, but that love knows no boundaries, and that the government, indeed, no one, has the right to stop the simple display of affection. And for all of this, and more, I’m so proud of each and every one of you.
