NYT’s Nate Silver Gives Obama 71 Percent Chance Of Winning

The New York Times‘ highly-respected Nate Silver, who runs the FiveThirtyEight blog, gives President Obama a 71 percent chance of winning re-election on November 6, with 291 electoral college votes, and a 50.2% of the popular vote:

The question, rather, is whether Mr. Romney is gaining ground relative to the post-Denver polls — or if, as Wednesday’s polls seemed to imply, the race instead may have ticked back slightly toward Mr. Obama.

It’s that last part, 50.2% of the popular vote, that should scare the hell out of every Democrat.

And it’s that last part that should motivate every Democrat to make damn sure they vote on or before November 6.

If you haven’t thought about it yet, why not schedule an election day voting party with your friends and neighbors? Waiting on line with a bunch of friends you probably don’t get to see often enough sounds like a lot more fun than waiting on line alone.

And it will save your place in line when you try to find a restroom.

But in all seriousness, there’s little this country asks of its citizens.

There’s little I ask of our readers.

Today, I’m begging.

Please, vote, and make sure your friends and families do too.
