NYC Mayor Bloomberg: NYPD Is My Own Army

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who somehow managed to tweak a third term on a two-term limited job, told a group at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) that he would make a great president because he’s already a commander in chief of one of the world’s largest armies.

“I have my own army in the NYPD, which is the seventh biggest army in the world. I have my own State Department, much to Foggy Bottom’s annoyance. We have the United Nations in New York, and so we have an entree into the diplomatic world that Washington does not have,” Mayor Bloomberg said, according to the New York Observer’s Politicker NY.

“The difference between my level of government and other levels of government is that action takes place at the city level,” Mayor Bloomberg said. “The cities and mayors are where you deal with crime, you deal with real immigration problems, you deal with health problems, you deal with picking up the garbage.”

You see, according to Mayor Bloomberg, he and his mayoral colleagues are focused on results. It’s the rest of the politicians who are screwing things up.

“At the state or federal level, that’s where the real problems are. You see it particularly in American government at the moment where they are just unable to do anything, and yet, the mayors of this country still have to deal with the real world,” said Mayor Bloomberg.

Mayor Bloomberg closed by expressing the desire for someone with real, executive experience to arrive on the scene and change things in Washington.

“Unfortunately, people at the federal level or the state level typically spend their whole lives in politics, and they’ve never been an executive and it shows,” Mayor Bloomberg said.

Bloomberg, a billionaire and one of America’s richest men, apparently is actively working to destroy his once well-perceived reputation. When did it start? Was it last winter when the mayor was MIA, and so were the snowplows? Or was it when he hired NYPD head Ray Kelly, who, indeed, has allowed the NYPD to behave abominably, treat NYC citizens as prisoners to be degraded and ignored, as if the cops were an occupying para-military force? Or was it when he allowed NYC cops to drive a motorcycle over an OWS observer? Or was it when he evicted and trampled the Zucotti Park Occupy Wall Street protestors? Or, was it when the NYPD singled out for arrest a transgender man and chained him for 8 hours in a bathroom? Was it in September when 39 people, including children, were shot in one weekend? Or, earlier, when NYPD arrested for no reason, demonstrators and tourists caught in Times Square during October’s Occupy Times Square protest? Or was it whern the NYPD trampled the First Amendment by not allowing journalists to report on the occupy Wall Street eviction? Or, maybe it was…
