NYC, International Rallies For World AIDS Day

Tomorrow, December 1, 2009, is once again World AIDS Day. This year, “Light For Rights” is holding twenty rallies around the world, “to honor those we have lost to AIDS and to highlight the fundamental rights we all share.” There are six in New York City, and the one in Washington Square Park,

“…will feature United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, amfAR chairman Kenneth Cole, UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador Naomi Watts, New York City Speaker of the City Council Christine C. Quinn, and 13-year-old AIDS activist Keren Dunaway-Gonzalez.

“Lights on the Washington Square Park Memorial Arch will go off at 6:15 and will be turned back on by 6:20. Other participating venues turning off their lights in New York City include all Broadway theaters, Madison Square Garden, Lincoln Center, the Chrysler Building, and the Brooklyn Bridge.”

I’ll be there. Hope you will too.
