NY State Senate Antics Cost Us Marriage – And Now $60 Million

Missed Today’s Deadline

The New York Times, in separate stories today, reports that, to obey a state Supreme Court ruling, the New York state Senate today gaveled in and out, effectively “holding session,” but taking up no business. It’s been over three weeks since the Republican-led Senate’s power grab stopped all business and forced Governor David Paterson to call “extraordinary sessions” to compel the lawmakers to complete their scheduled business. They have not been able to bring any bills into law since the coup Monday, June 8. The gay marriage bill has been a pawn throughout the entire event.

In “Judge Orders All 62 Senators to Meet in One Place,” The Times reports that the Senate had to approve “legislation to authorize a half percentage point increase in New York City’s sales tax. Because of the way the law is written, if the bill is not passed by Tuesday night, the city will lose at least $60 million, a month’s worth of revenue that has already been budgeted.”

Then, just minutes ago, The Times reported “State Senate Convenes, Then Adjourns.”

It’s time to stop paying these losers and “Throw The Bums Out.”
