NY Same Sex Marriage: GOP Senator Ball Is Now A “No”

New York’s same-sex marriage bill in the Senate took a hit Wednesday evening, as Republican Senator Greg Ball told a reporter, “At this point, on this bill, I would absolutely vote no.”

“I’m not going to vote for something that shutsdown Catholic adoption agencies, or open religious organizations to being sued,” Ball falsely stated — bowing to conservatives.

The religious protections in the bill are extremely deep — deeper than many had expected.

Despite the fact that New York Senate Minority Leader, Democrat John Sampson, stated today, “New York is closer now than it has ever been to fulfilling the promise of equality,” we are still at the 31 votes mark, with one more needed.

The state Assembly started debating the bill Wednesday afternoon.
