NOM: We Won’t Let ‘Gay Marriage Thugs And Activists…Get Away With Murder’

National Organization For Marriage (NOM) president Brian Brown today, in one of his many fundraising emails to supporters, stated, “We’re not going to allow gay activists to get away with attempted murder,” and “we must also fight back against the violent and hateful tactics of intimidation being pursued every day by gay ‘marriage’ thugs and activists.” Brown was referring to last week’s shooting at Family Research Council headquarters, and attempted to widely paint all LGBT activists and supporters wide an offensively wide brush.

“Five days ago, a gay activist stormed the offices of the Family Research Council (FRC), a pro-marriage ally in our fight, attempted to barge into their offices with a loaded weapon, and when confronted by a security officer, tried to murder the guard and thereby intimidate Christians and marriage supporters everywhere,” Brown’s email begins.

“The armed gay activist was reportedly carrying a large cache of ammunition and bags of food from Chick-Fil-A,” Brown continues, fear-mongering:

They will do whatever it takes to intimidate Christians and marriage supporters including harassing people at home and work.

The National Organization for Marriage is fighting back to defend marriage from gay activist bullies but I need your immediate contribution of $50, $100, or as much as you can give right now to fight back.

The attempted murder by the gay activist occurred just one day after the so-called Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest and wealthiest homosexual lobby, publicly branded the FRC a “hate group.”

The Southern Poverty Law Center, a once-proud civil rights group that is now nothing more than a hard-left attack machine, has also tagged the FRC with this epithet, and they’ve threatened to do so with NOM as well. Our hateful crime? Opposing homosexual “marriage.”

And there’s a “P.S.” as usual:

We’re not going to allow gay activists to get away with attempted murder. And we’re not going to shut up so they can go about the business of redefining marriage. We’re going to fight, and we’re going to win. But we can only do this if you stand with us today. That’s why we need your immediate contribution of $50, $100, or as much as you can give right now to fight back for marriage.

Jeremy Hooper at Good As You writes:

He is seriously laying the attempted act of one crazed person at the feet of me, you, and anyone who debates on the side of civil marriage equality. That is not an overstatement. Brian Brown, National Organization For Marriage president (i.e. the man leading all four state ballot fights), just said “We’re not going to allow gay activists to get away with attempted murder!” as if that is what “gay activistsâ„¢” want/seek. His attempted conflation is as obvious as it is dangerous and it is outrageous!

And adds:

Oh, and by the way Brian—virtually every LGBT activist I know is either fine with or insistent that Floyd Corkins’ act of violence be investigated as a hate crime! Remember, we are the ones who argued in favor of bias-motivated crimes being investigated for what they are. FRC is the organization that vehemently opposed the idea!

Calling people fighting for equality “gay ‘marriage’ thugs and activists,” is wrong and ugly and low. Claiming we all use “violent and hateful tactics of intimidation” “every day” is a lie — one Brown knows all too well.
