NOM Shamelessly Co-Opts Sarah Palin And Chick-Fil-A

NOM, the National Organization For Marriage, is well-known for stealing. In the past it’s been copyrighted photographs, copyrighted magazine articles, and copyrighted music. More recently, it was the Support Chick-Fil-A Day — created by Mike Huckabee, who was totally absent in NOM’s congratulatory fundraising emails sent to supporters in which NOM President Brian Brown essentially took total credit for the successful organizing.

Now, NOM is shamelessly, using a photograph that Sarah Palin posted to Facebook of her and her husband, Todd, at a Chick-Fil-A, to fundraise and to harvest email addresses. How much do you want to bet neither Palin nor Chick-Fil-A agreed to any of this?

“Join Sarah Palin,” the shameless ad, above, reads. “Thank Chick-Fil-A for standing up for marriage.” The ad, run through Google’s Doubleclick network, leads to a fundraising and email harvesting website owned by, of course, NOM, thankchickfila.com.

And, true to form, NOM had been planning this in advance. The fundraising and email harvesting website, thankchickfila.com, was registered July 26, a week before the actual Eat At Chick-Fil-A Day.

(By the way, did you know that NOM’s “Dump Starbucks” campaign was planned years ago? The website was first registered by Brian Brown on August 16, 2007.)

Yes, nothing is too shady for NOM to do, “to protect marriage and the faith communities that sustain it.”

Despicable.
