Noise Is Gay Activist And Actor Gavin Creel’s New “Anthem For Equality”
Gavin Creel, the openly gay actor, singer, songwriter, activist who co-founded Broadway Impact, along with Book Of Mormon’s Rory O’Malley, and Jenny Kanelos, just released “Noise,” which Creel describes as an “anthem for equality.” The video, which opens with clips of anti-gay activists Maggie Gallagher and Ann Coulter, closes with chants of “gay, straight, black, white, marriage is a civil right,” and even includes a clip from this week’s Internet phenomenon, the tear-inspiring Jonah Mowry, is a powerful statement on gay rights and the “noise” we are hearing, at ever-increasing volumes, from the anti-gay right and religious extremists.
“I’ve always been a believer in the power of art — and music in particular — to inspire change,” says the Tony-nominated Creel, who created the video along with songwriter Robbie Roth. “I hope this song motivates people to take action, fight complacency and stand up for what they believe in.”
The song is available on iTunes.
