Newt Gingrich: The Number One Reason Why He Won’t Get Elected

Newt Gingrich announced Monday that he would announce his candidacy for the 2012 Republican nomination for president on Wednesday, which he did via an uncharacteristic attempt at upbeatness. His faux-optimism failed just as his presidential campaign will, but before we turn away, let’s look at the number one reason Newt Gingrich couldn’t get elected dog catcher, much less President.

No one likes Newt Gingrich. I repeat: no one.

As a matter of fact, 42% of Americans just said they would “never” vote for Newt.

No one likes Newt Gingrich, and with good reasons — far too many reasons to go into here, for the simple fact is that Gingrich can’t even capture what is his base: conservative Republican Catholics and Christians.

Conservative Catholics, like, for instance, unassuming small-business entrepreneur, Dixie Meyers. Ms. Meyers — who goes by the name “@CatholicNotions” on Twitter, (see her profile photo, left) and named her small business, CatholicNotions.com – describes herself by saying, on her website, “In January 1997, I taught myself how to play the piano, in front of the Blessed Sacrament, at a nearby Catholic Church. “Contemplation” and “Beautiful Love Notes” and “Reece’s Lullabye” are my favorites. The later isn’t recorded yet.”

Myers tweeted Wednesday, “I WON’T VOTE for #NewtGingrich. He cheated on his wife, w/ the woman he’s married to now. He Supported a Lesbian Republican 4 Office. #DOMA

Gingrich converted to Catholicism a few years back, and recently with Calista, his third wife, made a documentary about the Pope.

If he can’t even capture the vote of a Dixie Meyers, whose vote can he capture?
