Newt Gingrich Debates Howard Dean On Marriage

“I’m quite happy to say I come out of a tradition which is several thousand years old that says marriage is between a man and a woman and I’m ready to send that tradition and I happen to believe it. I think I have as much right for my belief as you have yours.”

So says failed Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, at George Washington University on February 1, in a debate with Governor Howard Dean.  Gingrich is the man who presided over the lame duck impeachment of Bill Clinton, while he himself was having an affair, the man who divorced one wife while she was sick in the hospital with cancer to marry another wife with whom he was having an affair, the man who outrageously said, “I think there is a gay and secular fascism in this country that wants to impose its will on the rest of us, is prepared to use violence, to use harassment. I think it is prepared to use the government if it can get control of it. I think that it is a very dangerous threat to anybody who believes in traditional religion,” and the man who even Republicans don’t want to run for president, getting only 4% of the vote at CPAC,
