New Video: How To Talk To Lawmakers By Gun Nut CEO Who Threatened To ‘Start Killing People’

James Yeager, the CEO of Tactical Response Training and Gear, has released a video in which he apologizes for threatening to “start killing people” if Obama’s gun control measures go “one inch further.” The new video, released after Tennessee Homeland Security officials notified Yeager that his “irresponsible” and “dangerous” comments lead to them revoking his permit to carry a handgun, also focuses on how to talk to local, state, and federal officials — ironic, given his communications to date, which included threats of murder.

Yeager notes it’s a good idea to write to your legislators, not use all caps or too many exclamation points — “You’re not sending a text to a fourteen year old,” his attorney adds.

In this latest video, third in a series, he concludes that it’s a good idea to “do things legitimately, lawfully, and with no malice,” as he sits next to his “friend and attorney.” Yeager notes, “It’s not time for that… It’s not time for any kind of violent action,” which, logically, suggests that there might be a “time for that” in the future.

That “with no malice” part might be especially important for someone wishing to avoid prosecution — or for someone wanting to get their gun permit back.

“He doesn’t actually ask for his permit to be un-suspended,” Josh Marshall at Talking Points Memo notes. “But it sounds like his lawyer put the fear of God into him. Actually, if you watch closely, by the end of the video they both hedge a teeny teeny bit about whether the time for violence might come in the future.”
