New Hampshire Marriage Repeal: Maggie Gallagher Visits, Speaks To House

Maggie Gallagher, Chairwoman of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), today spoke in front of the New Hampshire Legislature on the issue of marriage equality. Obviously, Maggie is against marriage equality, and spouted her regular talking points.

Maggie says, “It is not discrimination to treat different things differently.” She continually claims religious and child-rearing reasons as acceptable reasons for her opposition to marriage equality.

Gallager’s comments are just over two minutes, and apologies, the first few seconds of her comments were not recorded. (Towleroad has a live feed today.)

New Hampshire currently offers marriage to same-sex couples. Every legitimate poll shows the citizens of New Hampshire do not want marriage equality repealed.

I listened for over an hour this morning to the live feed of the marriage debate in the New Hampshire House. Most of the people, and the news says “a big crowd“ lined up this morning to participate.

The Democratic Governor, John Lynch, with whom regular readers here are familiar, has vowed to veto any bill that repeals equality, but both houses have super-majorities, and could override a veto.

Elections have consequences.
