Nancy Pelosi Slams Vladimir Putin On Gay Rights

Nancy Pelosi eloquently slammed Vladimir Putin today, mocking the Russian president for his hypocritical New York Times op-ed, and for his heinous war on gays.

The tweet was one of the most-popular responses to Putin’s op-ed, which drew bipartisan fire for its hypocrisy.

In his op-ed, Putin attacks America and Obama for American exceptionalism and for our supposed penchant for “brute force” — ignoring his and his country’s own history of war.

“It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation,” Putin wrote. “There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.”

Pelosi’s comments were retweeted over 1800 times, and favorited over 750 times.

“It is already Pelosi’s fifth most popular tweet ever, according to mytoptweet.com,” the Washington Post noted.

Pelosi was in rare form today. The House Democratic Leader and former Speaker of the House also mocked her successor, John Boehner, for holding today Congress’ 41st vote to repeal Obamacare.
