Miss California Director Indicts Maggie Gallagher

Moneybags Maggie! NOM President “Makes 42% Of All Donations”

Keith Lewis, Director of the Miss California USA Pageant, at a press conference today, defended his organization’s possible action of taking away Miss California’s crown for violating her contract. He also took Maggie Gallagher to task for her role in the fiasco that led to this moment. Lewis said,

“As for Maggie Gallagher, I find it awfully ironic that 42% of your donations in 2007 went directly into your own pocket. And you still have the nerve to say Mr. Trump is trying to silence free speech by stopping your NOM commercial, use of copyrighted footage from Miss USA, that you’re using as a fundraising too?”

Maggie Gallagher, founder and president of the National Organization for Marriage, according to several published reports, over a three-year period made one-third of donations to her 501(4)c non-profit. That’s approximately $125,000 year, not including any reimbursed travel and entertainment expenses, not does that include any television or promotional appearance compensation she may have made, not any income from her writing.

It’s easy to hate something so much when you’re getting paid to do it. And that’s what this act has been: a career in hate. As I wrote in “The Rise And Fall And Rise Of Ann Coulter And The Business Of Anti-Gay Hate Speech In America“,

“The Ann Coulters, Michael Savages, and Michelle Malkins of the world are allowed, even encouraged, to continue their venomous attacks on the millions of gays in America. They are rewarded for their hate and hostility. It has become a circus, entertainment, a game, to drive ratings and sell books, advertisements, and speaking engagements. And it seems the harder we fight against the business of homophobia, the more the hate-mongers win.”

Well, you can add Maggie Gallagher’s name to that list. Gallagher’s National Organization for Marriage, was recently famous for the much-parodied “Gathering Storm” video, was most recently behind the Carrie PreJean/Perez Hilton ad claiming traditional marriage supporters are being marginalized.
