Maggie Gallagher Is Afraid Gay Marriage Will Keep Her From Being A Racist And A Homophobe
The Irony Of Being
Maggie

Maggie Gallagher truly, truly believes she is right and that God is on her side. Maggie Gallagher truly, truly believes she is right and that you are wrong. Maggie Gallagher truly, truly believes in her ideals. Maggie Gallagher truly, truly believes she’s Jack Nicholson in “A Few Good Men”. But the problem is, her version of “You can’t handle the truth” is devoid of the error of emotion. Maggie Gallagher truly, truly believes she’s not a bigot as she proudly attacks you with her bigotry.
In a National Review Online column two years ago, Maggie wrote,
“Gay marriage is not primarily about marriage. It’s also not about Adam and Steve and their personal practical legal needs. It is about inserting into the law the principle that “gay is the new black†— that sexual orientation should be treated exactly the same way we treat race in law and culture.”
Um, yes… sexual orientation should be treated exactly the same way we treat race in law and culture. Where’s the problem, Maggie?
“Gay-marriage advocates hope to use the law to reshape the culture in exactly the same way that the law was used to reshape the culture of the old racist south.”
Um, yes… Where’s the problem, Maggie?
“Ideas have consequences. This is what “marriage equality†means.”
Um, yes… Where’s the problem, Maggie?
Or, take the interview she did on Hardball on Wednesday (video above). Here’s more “You can’t handle the truth”, Maggie-style:
“Public schools, when they teach about marriage, are going to teach your children and grandchildren that your views about marriage are discarded relics of ancient bigotry.”
Um, yes… if your beliefs are that gay marriage is wrong, that gays are sinful creatures going to hell, yes, someone should be teaching that that is wrong. Nevermind that no one I know has ever had marriage taught to them in any public school. Where’s the problem, Maggie?
“The heart of the gay marriage idea is that there is no difference between a same-sex union and the union between a husband and a wife and that you’re a bigot engaging in discrimination if you think otherwise.”
Um, yes… Where’s the problem, Maggie?
