Maggie Gallagher Goes Crazy! Crazy! Crazy! Over Carrie Prejean Firing

NOM President Issues Statement That Reads Like A Paranoid Child’s Rant, Wants It Both Ways

Carrie Prejean’s short interlude with the National Organization For Marriage and with its President, Maggie Gallagher, left a strong mark – on Maggie. When Prejean uttered her infamous “opposite marriage” statement, defending her position on same-sex marriage, Maggie swooped down and protected poor Prejean – by reportedly violating copyright laws and throwing Carrie in front of the cameras to do Gallagher’s dirty work.

When all that nonsense was over, Prejean, evidently not the world’s best employee, came close to being fired – not for her beliefs on marriage equality, but for semi-nude photos that might have violated her contract, photos some claimed she did not properly disclose, and for some “miscommunication” about where she was supposed to be. You know, stuff like showing up for work. But Donald Trump came to Carrie’s rescue, and, in a press conference that lasted almost as long as Carrie’s reign as Miss California itself, The Don absolved Prejean of all guilt and said, “she’s a nice girl.” That’s nice. Then next day, the Executive Director of Miss California USA resigned.

But before that presser, Maggie used Carrie in a NOM-sponsored video ad to push the “opposite marriage” cause one step further. The day Trump reaffirmed Prejean’s right to continue wearing the California crown, Maggie, not wanting to upstage her debutante protégé, called it in and proclaimed that day, Carrie’s Day. In fact, Gallagher said that day, “I’m so happy for Carrie. Thank you Donald Trump for doing the right thing by Carrie.” Well, Trump is the one who fired Carrie today, Maggie. Didn’t he do the right thing today also? Really, Maggie, you can’t have it both ways.

THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR MARRIAGE RESPONDS TO THE FIRING OF MISS CALIFORNIA USA CARRIE PREJEAN:

(Princeton, NJ) – Today, the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) issued the following statement in response to the firing Miss California USA Carrie Prejean:

“Hollywood hates Carrie. First they abuse her, then they try to get her to recant, then they threw mud, and now they are doing what they wanted to do from day one: Get rid of Carrie.

This cover story about a contract dispute doesn’t pass the smell test. Americans aren’t fooled that easily. God knows, and we know, the truth about Carrie: She’s a young woman of great beauty who chose truth over the glittering tiara that Hollywood offers,” said Brian Brown, Executive Director for NOM. “Of course they will try to punish her, but we know she will be fine in the end, because her values are in the right place.”

“Hollywood will dance its tribal war dance over her body–the hatred generated against her has been extraordinary–but Carrie will be free to define her own mission and message from now on. Congratulations,” stated Maggie Gallagher, President for NOM.
