Look: Lizz Winstead Has A Message For NOM

Lizz Winstead, progressive political pundit and co-creator of “The Daily Show,” has a message for the folks at NOM, the National Organization For Marriage on their illegitimate response to news the American Academy of Pediatrics not only announced support for same-sex marriage, but noted that denying marriage to same-sex couples is harmful to their children.

“The academy’s new policy statement says same-sex marriage helps guarantee rights, benefits and long-term security for children, while acknowledging that it does not now ensure access to federal benefits,” a report in the New York Times notes:

When marriage is not an option, the academy said, children should not be deprived of foster care or adoption by single parents or couples, whatever their sexual orientation.

The academy’s review of scientific literature began more than four years ago, and the result is a 10-page report with 60 citations.

The American Academy of Pediatrics is the nation’s leading professional pediatric medicine organization. Founded in 1930, it currently has over 60,000 members and close to 400 employees.
