Listen: NJ Sen Cardinale Says Straight People Are “Disenfranchised”

I spent today getting ready for and following the NJ State Senate vote on marriage equality. I watched the proceedings, I’ve listened to the audio over and over again, and this one just gnaws away at me. Senator Sean Kean’s hypocritical speech was disgusting, but Senator Cardinale’s claim that because straight people can’t vote against marriage equality in New Jersey, “like they have in thirty-one other states,” his constituents are “disenfranchised.”

Why is there not a law that ensures law-makers have and understanding of, um, the law?

Needless to say, Republican Senator Gerald Cardinale voted against the bill. Click here to listen to his ignorance, his call to look back rather than forward. Listen to his claim of opposition because of “the process.”
