Limbaugh’s Racist Attack: Obama Can’t Fill ‘Black Panther Stadium’

Rush Limbaugh today was mocking President Obama, calling him a “joke,” “not authentically black,” saying “he doesn’t have slave blood,” and using a thug-like voice to impersonate the President, claiming that the decision to move his nomination acceptance speech to the Time Warner Cable Arena was made days ago because Obama can’t fill “Black Panther Stadium.”

Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs notes that “Bank of America Stadium is often referred to as ‘Panther Stadium’ for its home team, and in this clip, ever-repulsive right wing caveman Rush Limbaugh calls it ‘Black Panther Stadium’.”

Limbaugh, speaking from personal experience, said, “When you know you’re not drawing the crowds, that’s a sobering day.” Limbaugh’s Clear Channel Radio show has lost more than 100 advertisers.

International Business Times reports that “second-quarter revenue from 10 stations owned by Cumulus Media (Nasdaq: CMLS) declined due to the boycott, CEO Jim Dickey said.

Indeed, Dickey said in a conference call, lower sales at three of his 10 flagship talk radio stations cost $5.5 million due to “extraordinary issues” that included “the boycott that we saw from some remarks in a talk radio show,” which he didn’t specifically identify as Limbaugh’s.

Moreover, the Cumulus CEO anticipated the drag on business to continue for at least six months and as long as a year.

Since Limbaugh, 61, labeled Sandra Fluke, 30, a Georgetown University law student, a “slut” and “prostitute” on his three-hour talk show that reaches an estimated 20 million daily listeners in early March, women’s rights groups, liberal activists and critics such as Media Matters implemented a national campaign to urge advertisers to withdraw their commercials.

Johnson adds:

Limbaugh’s race-baiting was especially venomous today; he also said Obama isn’t “down with the struggle” because he “doesn’t have slave blood.”
