Rush Limbaugh, the unofficial head of the GOP, has finally met his match, and it turns out to be Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh, as the world now knows, called a 24-year old female college student a “slut” and a “prostitute” on Wednesday, and followed up after immense outrage from the Left by demanding that the college student, Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke, post online for him to see videos of her having sex.
This is not how any civilized country treats women. These are our mothers, aunts, sisters, nieces, co-workers, and neighbors. These are women. These are people.
Limbaugh’s reasoning? He thinks he is being forced to pay for her contraception, which makes her being paid to have sex, which makes her a slut and a prostitute, and the least Fluke can do, according to the thrice-married radio talk show host is give him some sexual gratification for his money. Which, by the way, taking Limbaugh’s “thought” process a step further, doesn’t make Fluke a prostitute, it makes Limbaugh guilty of soliciting for sex. But I digress.
Meanwhile, back in reality, Sandra Fluke’s contraception isn’t costing Limbaugh a dime, but now his comments are. One advertiser, Sleep Train, just dropped their support of Limbaugh’s show. Others, just as they did when Glenn Beck went too far, are considering pulling out. Those who claim to be considering their options include ProFlowers, eHarmony, and hopefully others.
If they’re wise, they will pull their support for Limbaugh, and pull it today. The longer they delay, the less we’re inclined to believe they did it out of virtue.
